Second Weekend in June

During Coal Miner Days the Sparwood Fire Department hosts an Emergency Awareness Day at the Sparwood Leisure Center. There is something for everyone; kids activities such as fire fit challenge that tests your skill in stair climb, hose pull using rope, hose target and a dummy drag, see the Ladder Truck with its ladder extended into the sky, and always the favourite Fire Engine rides. Adults can check out the displays and get information on safety, wildland interface awareness, emergency preparedness and more. People have the opportunity to tour the various emergency response vehicles and see the rescue equipment up close. There will be a demonstration to watch how the public services agencies work.  Crap a bite from the food vendors and stroll through the street and parking lot to see and talk with the dedicated people who serve you, then let the kids cool off in the splash pad. Let the Sparwood Fire Department help make fire safety a learning experience while you enjoy a family fun day.

Don't forget to catch the Auto Extrication Demo (approximate time 2:00pm) and the Free Fire Truck Rides! (12:00-4:00pm)
